Paak finds the 3 getting on the conscious side of things over a luxurious boom bap beat. while the song “Guard Your Heart” with Wale & Anderson. (Zen The Fuck Out)” talks about canceling bad energy over an ghostly Cool & Dre instrumental with co-production from No I.D. The song “Wolves” with Post Malone finds the 2 looking back on how they grew up over a cavernous instrumental while the track “Body Language” is a TWENTY88 reunion about lust over a moody KeY Wane beat.Īfter the Dave Chappelle story, the track “Harder Than My Demons” talks about how Sean thanks God for everything over a Mike WiLL Made-It & DJ Khalil instrumental sampling the classic joint “Human Nature” while the song “Everything That’s Missing” talks about heartbreak over a bare piano instrumental. The next song “Lucky Me” opens up on things he’s never talked about over a relaxing beat before a dope switch-up during the 2nd half while the track “Deep Reverence” with Nipsey Hu$$le sees the 2 talking about being legends in the streets over a spacious beat. The opener “Why Would I Stop?” speaks on where he is now come over an abrasive instrumental from Hit-Boy, who had a huge hand in overseeing the whole album. But after a couple years of speculation, he’s returning with a sequel to Detroit as his 6th full-length album. Now the last time Big Sean dropped a project was in late 2017 with Double or Nothing which had INCREDIBLE production from Metro Boomin’ top to bottom, but Sean himself was SEVERELY lacking. were both mediocre in comparison to all those past efforts. However, his next 2 full-lengths Dark Sky Paradise & I Decided. ![]() ![]() This was followed up the next year with the highly acclaimed Detroit mixtape & then a sophomore album the year after that entitled Hall of Fame. He generated some buzz in the late 2000s by dropping the Finally Famous mixtape trilogy, but it wouldn’t be until 2011 when his profile significantly increased when Sean dropped a 4th installment as his full-length debut. Let the man be happy, we all say stupid shit in the privacy of our homes and around our friends, let’s not ruin Kanye’s legacy over some over-edited video on fucking TMZ.Big Sean is a 32 year old rapper, singer & songwriter from Detroit, Michigan coming up as a protege of Chicago icon Kanye West & signing to his Def Jam Recordings imprint GOOD Music. ![]() He looked super happy during the Camp Flog Naw, and he’s stopped Tweeting stupid shit that doesn’t make sense, so I think he’s doing better, but we need to stop expecting the Old Kanye to come back. We should not be so quick to judge someone who has admitted to being mentally unwell, and for someone with the ego of Kanye to admit that he’s not on top of his game, he must be really not doing too well. I want to take a moment to talk about Kanye West, The Person. Kids See Ghosts is a cohesive concept album, with topics ranging from the prison-industrial complex, as shown in Cudi Montage, struggles with mental health as shown in Reborn, and whatever the fuck Kanye was doing in Feel The Love. This makes more of a cohesive sound, and helps me finally understand concept albums. I feel myself coming back to this album on a regular basis because as I get older, I feel myself listening to albums front to back instead of jumping track to track. ![]() The mix between upbeat Kanye, and slower, more somber Cudi serve as musical peanut butter and jelly sandwich that climaxes during Cudi Montage, the final song of one of the best albums of the year, and easily the best Wyoming Kanye Album. It’s short, sweet and to the point, with no skippable tracks. Kids See Ghosts is tied with Swimming for my album of the year. Kanye’s verse is the most coherent he’s been since Ultralight Beam off, Saint Pablo, and the most socially observant he’s been since My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. I’ve spent many hours rewriting this blog post, using a different song each time, but I’ve finally came to a decision: Cudi Montage has the best message, has the best instrumental, and has a crazy Kurt Cobain sample that I couldn’t find anywhere, but I checked WhoSampled, and they usually have accurate information. Cudi Montage is the best song on Kids See Ghosts, by a long shot.
